IV Ozactin therapy represents a modern advancement in holistic veterinary care, combining the long-studied benefits of ozone therapy with a specialized ozonated glycerin formulation designed to support the body at a cellular level. This therapy is used as part of an integrative approach for horses dealing with serious conditions such as EPM, EHV, neurological disorders, laminitis, tendon and ligament injuries, and chronic inflammatory disease in all animals, as well as for performance animals needing deeper systemic support.

Ozone therapy itself is not new. Ozone (O₃) was first identified in 1840 by German chemist Christian Friedrich Schönbein, who discovered that this highly energized form of oxygen had unique biological effects. Over the following decades, ozone began to be used in Europe for disinfecting water, sterilizing medical equipment, and later for medical therapy. Today, ozone therapy is used around the world in both human and veterinary medicine, particularly in Germany, Italy, Russia, and parts of South America, where it is commonly applied for circulation disorders, inflammatory disease, immune dysfunction, and neurological conditions.

The power of ozone therapy comes from its ability to increase oxygen utilization, improve blood flow, and stimulate the body’s own healing response. When administered properly, ozone supports mitochondrial function, enhances cellular energy production, and helps regulate the inflammatory process rather than simply suppressing it. This makes it especially valuable in conditions where the body is struggling to repair damaged tissue or fight infection.

IV Ozactin therapy takes these benefits a step further.

Using a carefully prepared ozonated glycerin solution, IV Ozactin is designed to deliver ozone-based support systemically through the bloodstream, allowing the therapy to reach tissues that topical or oral products cannot. This makes it particularly useful for diseases that affect the nervous system, circulatory system, or deep connective tissue.

In cases of EPM and other neurological disorders, IV Ozactin is used to support nerve function, reduce inflammation in the spinal cord and brain, and improve oxygen delivery to compromised tissue. Many neurological conditions involve poor circulation, oxidative stress, and chronic inflammation, all of which ozone therapy is known to help regulate.

For horses affected by EHV or viral-related neurologic symptoms, ozone therapy has been used worldwide for its antimicrobial and immune-modulating properties. Chronic tendon problems often persist because of poor circulation and repeated inflammatory cycles. Ozactin helps bring oxygen and nutrients to damaged tissue, allowing the body to repair more efficiently.

Patient Dose and Treatment Schedule

Horse 35–60 cc IV Administer the initial dose. Re-evaluate 15 days later. If the horse is still improving but has not reached its maximum recovery, repeat 35–60 cc every 15 days until progress plateaus. Once the horse has reached its best possible improvement, gradually extend the interval between treatments (every 1 month, 3 months, or 5 months) based on the horse's individual needs.

Performance Horses 35–60 cc IV May be administered before or around each performance as part of a maintenance program.

Dogs 1 cc per 10 lb body weight Use up to a maximum body weight of 200 lb. Dogs weighing over 200 lb should receive 20 cc maximum per treatment.

Treatment plan:

Initial Dose: 35–60 cc IV

First Recheck: 15 days after treatment

Repeat Treatments: Every 15 days while improvement continues

Maintenance: Extend intervals once the horse has reached maximum improvement

Performance Horses: May receive treatments around competitions as needed
