Proper Digestive Health Supplement

  • Helps soothe the entire digestive tract
  • Supports healing of gastrointestinal ulceration
  • Maintains bacterial balance

Excel helps to soothe the entire digestive system (esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines and the colon), which aides in lessening the discomforts of digestive issues. You can use a quick palpation test <instruction video at right> to help you determine if your horse has digestive tract sensitivity.

The key ingredients in Excel are Aloe Vera Powder and Marshmallow Root Powder. They promote overall digestive health and help to reduce the negative side effects of gastric upset. Both work well with the prebiotic Yea-Sacc® to allow increased absorption of needed nutrients from food.

Psyllium Husk Powder has long been recognized as an excellent means of getting more dietary fiber and promoting colon health. Psyllium forms a gelatin-like mass in the colon, which keeps the bowels soft and regular. This mass also helps absorb toxins.

Slippery Elm Bark Powder resists breakdown from stomach acids and enzymes so it maintains a soothing action throughout the digestive system. In addition, it helps regulate bacteria in the intestine and enhances good gut flora.

Marshmallow Root is a mucilaginous extract that promotes soothing of any ulcerated tissues.

Veterinarians who study ulcers say that nearly 90% of our horses have and suffer from gastrointestinal ulceration.  Some symptoms associated with gastrointestinal distress are: ulcers, weight loss, diarrhea, body soreness (especially over the low back/lumbar area), cribbing, sensitivity over the sides (especially over the last rib), and the most common symptom is cinchy or girthy horses. Anxiousness, anger, defensiveness, dead sided, weaving, stall walking, and teeth grinding are also symptoms of ulcers that reoccur.

Excel is an all-natural digestive health supplement that is fed daily. Excel may be used long term without the possible build up of aluminum, found in daily antacids, which may create a metal toxicity.  It is mixed with alfalfa and brewer’s yeast to make it more palatable to the horse.

Many horses tested with Horse Hair Analysis consistently show severe nutritional deficiencies in at least 3 of the 4 electrolyte minerals, iron, selenium and cobalt. A significant percentage also have a toxic metal present in their body, such as aluminum or mercury, that must be chelated from the body in order for it regain optimal health. These imbalances have a direct impact on digestive health, attitude and willingness of your horse to perform their job.  For more information on Horse Hair Analysis, click here.

If your horse has been diagnosed or is suspected of having ulcers, you are encouraged to read the articles in the Digestive category of the Health Library or view the Ulcer Diagnosis video at right.

Does what it says

Both of my horses are on Excel, and it has exceeded my expectations. The one horse came to me on Excel, it ran out, and I was unpleasantly surprised when he started acting sensitive, cinchy, and kicking out at times under saddle. Started the Excel again, and soon he was back to normal. Needless to say, my second horse was put on it as well!

Love Excel!

Henry my aqha stallion has a super sensitive stomach. If I run out of Excel, I can see little signs that his stomach is bothering him like standing stretched, but as soon as my order arrives, he's right back, feeling to his happy self!
